Katja Schechtner
is an urban scientist who develops new technologies and shapes innovative policies to keep cities on the move.
She is a global urban nomad, having continuously moved between her homes and work with MIT Senseable City Lab in Boston, OECD in Paris, ADB in Manila and AIT in Vienna and her other board positions across the globe before the pandemic struck and let her focus on Frauen Bauen Stadt in Vienna.
She has published widely, both in scientific journals and the popular press and her work has also been exhibited globally at venues such as Venice Architecture Biennale, ars electronica and, most recently, the Seoul Biennale for Urbanism.
Wojciech Czaja
studied architecture and works as a journalist, book author and facilitator in architecture, real estate and urban cultures.
He writes for the Austrian daily newspaper Der Standard as well as for architecture magazines in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and lectures at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and the Kunstuniversität Linz.
Among the large variety of books he published, his works “Hektopolis” and “Almost”, are both portraying cities and urban short stories from around the world. His most recent work will be shown in the exhibition: “Almost. Wiener Weltreisen 1873/2020” at the Wien Museum from February 2021 onwards.
Sabina Riss
supported the curators as scientific advisor. She is an architect who advocates to improve gender equality in the professional fields of architecture and planning of the built environment. In her PhD she examined the original contributions of women to the change in the design of housing and urban quarters.
She lectures and researches at the Vienna University of Technology and held a position as visiting professor at the Technical University of Regensburg and taught at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
She is an invited speaker, expert and consultant with a gender focus, as well as a co-author of scientific studies for public clients in her field.
Anne Wunderlich
is a young architect with a zeal for urban planning and the goal to create diverse architectures at human scale.
She currently works in a Viennese architecture office, has a background in gender research – which brought her to the team as research assistant – and experience in the design and content creation of exhibitions. She also passionately creates floral sculptures.
